UnLikeable

“In the moment when I truly understand my enemy, understand him well enough to defeat him, then in that very moment I also love him. I think it’s impossible to really understand somebody, what they want, what they believe, and not love them the way they love themselves. And then, in that very moment when I love them…. I destroy them.”
Orson Scott Card, Ender’s Game

Update to Stance Saving

This week I found more people didn’t like what I was apart of then I realized.
- Company I work for
- Teams I coach with
- Coaches I’ve coached with
- Food I like
- Code I’ve written

I had gnerally thought people disliked because they believe in something. If you like the Yankees then you hate the Red Sox. And mostly apathetic if that wasn’t the case.

You can’t please everyone is an internal problem.

Externally the problem is internal to me.

It is easy to find a reason to dislike. A conference opoonent wins every game- well we all dislike that. A confernce opponent losses everygame and we dislike them for — ruining our playoff seeding, spending time talking on twitter… or a neighborhood mom telling us that our confrence opponent is a better school for her 7th grader to go play at when they attend highschool.

…when I truly understand my enemy, understand him well enough to defeat him, then in that very moment I also love him
