Expectations

I knew a coach who cried after every loss.

On the one hand, it’s amazing how much these things mattered to him. And I know a pastor who cries during every announcements time at church. A grown man tearing up about a marriage retreat; That’s Endearing and Amazing.

The coach who cries after every bad game. That’s a dreamer.

Do expect defeat. It’s a given when the stakes are high and the competition is working ferociously to beat you. If you’re surprised when it happens, you’re dreaming; dreamers don’t last long. -Bill Walsh
